The CanShare programme is building a national health informatics platform which will support clinician and people with cancer by being able to access up-to-date cancer information across Aotearoa New Zealand's health system. The October update covers key milestones and news, including:
- The publication of updated systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) regimens through the ACT-NOW library, now supporting over 800 standardised treatment protocols.
- The Radiation Oncology Collection (ROC) has progressed toward satellite centre integration, with new data submission processes being piloted in Taranaki.
- The SNOMED CT October release introduced 474 reference sets and 2,344 value sets tailored for cancer care, enhancing consistency across diagnostics, treatment plans, and national registers.
- CanShare’s structured pathology programme is using new SNOMED CT concepts developed for ancillary studies in breast and colorectal cancers, which were presented at international forums in Antwerp.
- An AI-assisted Structured Anatomical Pathology (ASAP) pilot is exploring approaches for real-time, coded pathology reporting.
