CanShare is the national cancer information platform that is increasingly improving how cancer information is collected, shared and used across Aotearoa New Zealand. As this work progresses clinicians and patients will be able access near real-time data to support discussions on their treatment options. It will also support improvements to cancer care, planning, research, and equity.
Highlights in the October CanShare newsletter include the platform's in delivering the priorities of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2026-2029, continued work to migrate national cancer datasets to Health New Zealand's Health Data Platform, and advances in the use of artificial intelligence to support structured cancer reporting.
The update also features developments in the Radiation Oncology Collection, enhancements to the ACT-NOW systemic anti-cancer therapy programme, ongoing SNOMED CT terminology work, and collaboration with the Breast Cancer Foundation National Register to improve the consistency and interoperability of cancer data across Aotearoa.
We also acknowledge several valued colleagues whose expertise and commitment have made a significant contribution to New Zealand's cancer information systems and the wider CanShare programme.
