An update from Te Aho o Te Kahu

Rami Rahal, Chief Executive of Te Aho o Te Kahu Cancer Control Agency, has announced that he will be stepping down from his role in December 2025.

Since his appointment in July 2023, Rami has provided strong and steady leadership, guiding New Zealand’s cancer control efforts with dedication and clarity. Under his stewardship, the Agency has advanced key priorities in the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan, strengthened collaboration across the health system, and championed initiatives to improve cancer care and outcomes for all New Zealanders.

The Public Service Commission will begin the recruitment process for a new Chief Executive. In the interim, Nicola Hill will serve as Acting Chief Executive.

Rami has decided now is a good time to spend more time with his whānau in Canada. We thank Rami for his warmth, wisdom, and commitment to improving outcomes for all New Zealanders affected by cancer and wish him every success in his next chapter.
